HARLEY ANDRES MITCHEM

Harley Andres Mitchem, age 68 of Haysi, passed away February 10, 2024 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Yeager, WV, and growing up in Buchanan County he was the son of the late James Edward Mitchem and Evie Deel Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rabin Roberts and William Burgy Roberts. He was a member of Colemans Chapel. He was a retired truck driver for Darrell Rasnake Trucking. He loved spending time with family and friends. Harley had a strong faith in God believing he was a winner either way whether staying here on Earth with his family or the ultimate healing of being with the Lord in Heaven. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting and most of all he enjoyed helping others in anyway he could, he loved and enjoyed serving God with his big heart.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Yates Mitchem; daughter, Marie O’quinn; step-son, Jon David Deel and wife, Nicole; sister, Kay Brooks and husband Dana; sister-in-law, Justine Roberts; his faithful companion Trixie, which he loved very much, and five grandchildren, Dalton O’quinn, Gracie O’quinn, Luna Deel, Alora Deel, and Ezra Deel along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service were conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Colemans Chapel with Darrell Thacker officiating. Burial followed in the Yates Cemetery, Haysi. Pallbearers were family and his friends of Colemans Chapel. The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Monday at the church where a service was held at 7 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
