COVID growth rates rising

Dickenson County reported 24 new COVID-19 cases between Oct. 24 and Tuesday.

According to the Virginia Department of Health, the county’s total number of cases since the pandemic began increased from 5,175 to 5,199 in one week.

The county’s number of COVID-19-related deaths remained at 73.

Nearby, Buchanan County’s total number of cases increased by 18 to 6,401 during the same period. Russell County’s total case count increased by 45 to 10,066. Wise County’s case count increased by 70 to 14,822.
