COVID rates keep rising

Dickenson County reported 30 new COVID-19 cases between Aug. 22 and Tuesday.
According to the Virginia Department of Health, the county’s total number of cases since the pandemic began increased from 5,035 to 5,065 in one week.
The county’s number of COVID-19-related deaths remained at 72.
Nearby, Buchanan County’s total number of cases increased by seven to 6,283 during the same period. Russell County’s total case count increased by 13 to 9,783. Wise County’s case count increased by 51 to 14,428.
