KENNY MULLINS

Kenny Mullins, age 76 of Mull Road, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023 at his residence. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Merdie and Ida Hill Mullins. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the 9th Infantry Division as a combat infantryman from 1966 to 1968, retired from the US Corps of Engineers, and was member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ray and Jeffrey Mullins, and sisters, Dora Yates and Betty Stiltner.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Mullins; a son, Merdie Matthew Mullins of Grundy; two daughters, Michelle (Blaine) McClellan of Knoxville, Tn. and Renee (Nathan) Bostic of Abingdon, and grandchildren; Gracie Bostic, Zoe Mullins, Blaine McClellan, Winston McClellan, and a special pet “Stoker”.
Funeral service were conducted 7 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church with Danny Sluss officiating. A short service was held at the church on Monday, June 5, at 11 a.m. with George Wallace. Burial followed in the Bartley-Hill Cemetery, Haysi with military gravesite rites. Pallbearers were Nathan Bostic, Blaine McClellan, David Yates, Jack Mullins, Floyd Osborne, and Scottie Owens. The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Sunday prior to the funeral service.
