Rita Mae Franklin, 74, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at her home.

She was born in Clintwood, the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Rasnick and Billie Ruth Dellinger Rasnick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lynn Franklin; and one sister, Christine Reedy.

Rita was a previous Dickenson County, resident, where she graduated from Ervinton High School. She was a loving wife and mother and loved her cats and dogs. In her free time, she enjoyed homemaking and bird-watching.

She is survived by one son, Woodrow Willis “Willie” Franklin of Abingdon and two sisters, Merle “Sammie” Cooper of Dante and Yvonne “Von” Rasnick of Abingdon, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Rita Mae Franklin will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2023, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood with Rev. Woody Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Pallbearers will be Dan Roy Boggs, T.J. Hall, William Cooper, Joel Moskowitz, Curtis Puckett, David Franklin, Gary Wright, Sonny Franklin, and Michael Reedy.
