ALVIN LYALL

Alvin Lyall passed unexpectedly on Feb. 12, 2023 at his home. He was born Aug. 4, 1935 and was the second born son of Lonzie and Mary Lou Lyall. He lived most of his life in Dickenson County with the exception of time he moved to Northern Virginia in the 60’s and the brief time he spent in the U. S. army. He and his wife, Janet, moved back to Dickenson County in 1968 and he went to work in the coal mines from which he later retired. Alvin was an avid fisherman, gardener, and woodworker.
Alvin attended Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church until such time as his health prevented him from doing so.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Lonzie Lyall and Mary Lou Blansett Lyall. His brothers Aubrey, Palmer, Billy, Rabon and Roy and sister Rita Lyall Delaney. The love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Janet Puckett Lyall.
Alvin leaves behind his daughter, Cathy Hawkins and son Michael and daughter in-law, LeeAnn Lyall, all of Clintwood; his son, Matthew and daughter in-law, Tara Lyall of Sherills Ford, NC; three grandchildren, Andrew Hawkins, Owyen Lyall and Eland Lyall and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Alvin were conducted 7 p.m., Monday Feb. 27, 2023 at Clintwood Funeral Home with Pastor Lester Mullins officiating. Visitation began at 5 p.m. till service time. Burial was on Tue. 28, 2023 at 1 p.m. with a graveside service at the Puckett Family Cemetery. Anyone who attended the graveside met at Clintwood Funeral Home at 12 noon. Pallbearers were family and friends.
