Mazie was the eldest of thirteen children. She worked hard to take care of her daughter and helped to raise her brothers and sisters and she provided love and affection to her grandchildren who were always so precious to her. Everyone called her the strong one in the family. She was independent and was able to care for herself until the last few weeks. She loved cooking for her family, making quilts, gardening, and caring for all her flowers. Mazie was a member of Haysi Church of Christ and attended faithfully until she and Englin were unable to go.
Funeral service were held at Haysi Funeral Home Monday February 6, at 2 p.m. with Steve Counts officiating. A visitation started at 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial followed in the Viers Cemetery on Backbone Ridge. Pallbearers were Jeff Colley, Rick Colley, Brent Wallace, Ben Church, James Fuller, and Matthew Counts.
