Janet Gail Hammons Welch born January 1, 1957 passed away at Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Chilhowie October 12, 2022, at the age of 65. She was a 1975 graduate of Clintwood High School and was of the Baptist faith. She had a heart of gold by being concerned about family and friends and their well-being, overlooking her own needs. She loved Jesus.

Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her mother, Cora Faye Hammons and father, James (Poley) Reedy; sister, Rita Ann Hammons and brother, Jeff Hammons.

Survivors include her sisters, Crystal Fletcher of Coeburn and Alice Knuckles of Oh.; brother, Bobby Hammons and wife Carolyn of Clintwood; two nieces, Summer Hilliard of Fl. and Faith Hammons of Herndon; nephews, James Robert Hammons and Dustin Carroll Hammons of Clintwood and a host of friends.

The family wants to thank Valley Healthcare for the wonderful staff and facility and for the love and care that our sister received during her stay there. This facility deserves five stars for the love and care that is shown to their patients.

Funeral services were held at 7 p.m., Friday, October 14 at Clintwood Colley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lynn Vanover officiating. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until time of service. A graveside service was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Clintwood. Friends served as pallbearers. Online condolences may be made at www.clintwoodfuneralhome.com.
