Another death, 64 new virus cases marked

Dickenson County reported 64 new COVID-19 cases in one week.

On Aug. 9, the Virginia Department of Health reported a total of 3,793 cases since the pandemic began. As of yesterday, the number had increased to 3,857.

The county’s number of COVID-19-related deaths increased by one, from 52 to 53.

Nearby, Buchanan County’s total number of cases increased by 28 in a week, from 5,231 Aug. 9 to 5,259 yesterday. Russell County’s total case count increased by 123 in a week, to 7,724. Wise County reported 12,131 cases since the pandemic began, an increase of 331 in a week.
