LORETTA MARIE EDWARDS ARRINGTON

ABINGDON

Loretta Marie Edwards Arrington of Abingdon, passed away at her home on May 21, 2022. 

She was born on December 8, 1925 to Bonnie Arrington Edwards and Cowan Edwards of Dickenson County.  Marie was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, George Douglas Arrington; sons, Larry Arrington and Gerald Arrington; one sister, Irene Sutherland; brothers, Olney Edwards and CG Edwards.  Marie accepted the Lord as a small child and was a member of Sandlick Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years.

Marie leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Michael Phipps of Abingdon and son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Susie Arrington of Cedar Bluff. Her grandchildren: LeeAnne (Brian) Schmid, Matthew (Misty) Phipps, Scott (Michelle) Arrington, Sarah (Dale) Francis, Larry (Amanda) Arrington, Richard (Tammy) Connor, and Stephanie Connor.  The great-grandchildren that she loved so dearly include Chelsea, Bryson, Nolan, Makenna, Amelia, Sawyer, Theo, James, Norah, Wendell and Niam.  She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at Haysi Funeral Home on May 28 at 12 p.m. with the funeral starting at 1 p.m.  The service was conducted by Pastor Pat Parham.  Burial immediately follow at the A. J. Edwards Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Matthew Phipps, Scott and Larry Arrington, Dale Francis, Brian Schmid and Richard Edwards.

A very special thank you to Rocky Spiva who treated Marie like his own family.  He was always available to help in whatever capacity was needed.  In addition, a special thank you to Ann Cantrell for her love and care given to our mother in her final days.
