Virus case rates rise once again

Dickenson County’s total number of COVID-19 cases increased by eight in one week.

On May 17, the Virginia Department of Health reported a total of 3,326 cases since the pandemic began. As of yesterday, the number had increased to 3,334.

The county’s number of COVID-19-related deaths remained at 49.

Nearby, Buchanan County’s total number of cases increased by 29 in a week, from 4,899 May 17 to 4,928 yesterday. Russell County’s total case count increased by 42 in a week, to 6,935. Wise County reported 10,405 cases since the pandemic began, an increase of 78 in a week.
