FERN R. WRIGHT

8/10/1932-1/20/2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (nanny) as she has slipped away to fly with the Angels. We gain our comfort in knowing she will be watching over us as always!
Fern was the daughter of the late Steve and Emma Hay Rose of Haysi. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years George Washington Wright; son, Clyde Randolph (Randy) Wright; brother, Fayne Rose; sisters, Carol Rose and Sharon Gilbert.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her sons, Tim (Aggie) Wright of Bedford and Tracy Wright of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Emily (Jeremiah) Cochenour of Lynchburg, Jacob and Joshua Wright of Chesterfield; her great-grandchildren, Kahill, Swyze and Leah; a devoted ex-daughter in-law, Mary Bright; brothers Roger (Pat) Rose of Bristol, Scotty (Shelia) Rose, Kelly (Engie) Rose of Clintwood and Kevin (Shirley) Gilbert of Dandridge, Tenn.; her sisters, Ruth Payne of Cleveland, Tenn., Betty Mullins of Clintwood and a host of nieces and nephews.
Fern loved her daily walks around the neighborhood and there was no place she went that she did not strike up a conversation. If she was not walking she was watching her favorite TV shows which included Westerns, Gunsmoke, Matlock, Perry Mason and the good ole’ Andy Griffith show. She loved to read and spend time with her family. She was the happiest with a good cup of coffee, a slice of cornbread and a steaming hot bowl of soup-beans. Her favorite thing to ask was, “Do we have cornbread?”
Services will be announced at a later date. The family has asked that any donations be made to the Alzheimers Association or to a charity of your choice.
