DONNA DIANE MULLINS

March 23, 2022

Donna Diane Mullins, age 74, of Clintwood, passed peacefully in her sleep on March 20, 2022, with her family at her side.

Diane was born on March 28,1947, in Clintwood, to Cecil and June Fleming. Diane had six brothers and one sister. She was raised in Clintwood until the death of her parents when she was 16 years old, and she was relocated to the VFW Home for Children in East Lansing, Mi. where she lived and attended school for two years. After graduating high school in Michigan in 1965, Diane returned to home to Clintwood where she worked as a beautician.  Diane was married to her love Benny Pat Mullins in 1967. After briefly living in Arlington and becoming lifelong Washington Redskins fans, they returned home to Clintwood where they continued their 55 years of living and loving together. They had two children, Kelly Sue Mullins Rose (Wade) of Coeburn and Benjamin Cecil Mullins (Skyli) of Knoxville, Tenn., Benny Pat and Diane lived at the top of Hughes Hollow, Clintwood, where they made a loving home.

Diane was an amazing artist and quilter. She loved her grandchildren, Allison, Nicholas, Jordan, Autumn, Benjamin “Auggie”, and Patton more than anything and made each of them a special hand-stitched quilt when they were born. If you knew Diane, then you knew how special and talented each of her grandchildren were because she would talk about them to anyone who would listen. She loved planting her flowers in her garden and was Clintwood’s favorite “Motorcycle Nana” riding her Honda Goldwing Trike around town and across the country. She was so proud when she received her motorcycle license as it made her “Bona Fide.”

Diane was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Fleming; her mother, June Fleming; her brothers, Roger Fleming, Gary Fleming, Danny Fleming, C.J. Fleming, Ricky Fleming and her grandson, Nicholas Rose.

Diane is survived by her husband Benny Pat Mullins; her daughter, Kelly Rose and her son, Ben Mullins.  She is also survived by her sister, Peggy (Lewis) Fleming; her brother, Michael (Marietta) Fleming and her grandchildren, Allison, Jordan, Autumn, Auggie, and Patton. She will also be remembered by the countless friends and family that loved and cherished her as much as her family. Diane’s personal faith in Christ was deep and strong. Our loss is heaven’s gain.

The family would like to recognize the doctors and nurses at Norton Community Hospital. The compassion they showed to Diane will never be forgotten. The family would also like to thank all of the friends who have poured out their hearts, prayers, and care during this time of loss.

Receiving of friends and family and a memorial service will be held Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lester Mullins officiating. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. with the services to begin at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dickenson County 4-H, PO box 1160, Clintwood, Virginia, 24228. Online condolences can be made at www.clintwoodfuneralhome.com.

Mrs. Mullins and family are in the care of Clintwood Funeral Home.
