CHARLES BLAINE SUTHERLAND

Charles Blaine Sutherland, age 71, of Daveport, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Ellis Lacy and Alpha Lester Sutherland. He was of the Christian faith, retired electrician for Alpha Coal Company, member of the UMWA, and loved wood working. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Carol Sutherland.

Survivors include his wife, Pattie Compton Sutherland; two daughters, Valerie (Dodi) Bailey of Rosedale and Lauren (J.D.) McCurdy of Dover, Tenn.; grandchildren, Bailey, Tennessee, and Gunnar, and sisters, Nettie Dean (Donald) Owens of Bee and Sharon Kay Boyd of Dante.

Funeral services were conducted 7 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Haysi Funeral Home with Creighton Smith officiating. Graveside services were conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 in the Sutherland Cemetery, Bee. Pallbearers were Dave Owens, Gary Dunford, Gerald Thomas, Jake Lester, Junior Lester, Kevin Sutherland, and Denver Owens.
