ALICE NEVADA COUNTS SAWYERS

Alice Nevada Counts Sawyers, age 94, daughter of Tivis and Nevada Sutherland Counts. As her Mother died in childbirth, she was raised by her Aunt, Amelia Sutherland Rasnick, whom she considered her Mom.

She lived most of her life in Dickenson County and was of the Freewill Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Jack Sawyers and her son, Jack Sawyers, Jr.

Survivors include daughter and son in-law, Dimple and Vic Arrington, Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Leo Sawyers, St. Paul; and daughter and son in-law, Jennifer and R.L. Wallen; five grandchildren, Shannon Sawyers, Josh (Sarah) Sawyers, Matthew Wallen, Miranda (Caleb) Moore, and Jessica (Justin) Spears; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Isabel, and Caroline Sawyers, Brooklyn Wallen, Lily, Etta, and Sunny Moore, Harper and Sawyer Spears and honorary grandchild Diamond Raines. In addition, she has several nieces and nephews and a host of honorary children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family received friends on Monday, February 21 at 6 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with song services at 7 p.m. Funeral Services were Tuesday, February 22 at 1 p.m. with Revs. Tam Hill and Danny Sluss officiating at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Masks are required. Burial followed in Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood.

Pallbearers were Leo Sawyers, Vic Arrington, R.L. Wallen, Matthew Wallen, Damon Rasnick, and Darrel Green. Honorary pallbearers were Caleb Moore, Justin Spears and her nephews.
