BERCHIE ADDISON BELCHER

Berchie Addison Belcher, age 94 of Haysi, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was the son of the late John and Margie Belcher. He was baptized on May 23, 1965 and joined Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church on July 3, 1965. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II serving as a Seaman First Class, a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA. He was a graduate of Haysi High School and an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. His greatest love was his family and his favorite time of year was Christmas, when he could gather everyone around him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Maple Edwards; a daughter, Deidre Belcher, and two grandchildren, Lauren Carico and Alex Musick.
Survivors include his wife, and love of his life, Nadean Belcher; two daughters, Rhonda (Zane) Counts, and Ginger (fiancé L.H. Edwards) Mullins both of Haysi; a son, Biff (Robin) Belcher also of Haysi; one brother, Clayton (Lucille) Belcher of Haysi; four sisters, Ival Anderson of Haysi, Eulalia (Earl) Lee of Green Cove Springs, Fl., Betty Long of Westerville, Oh., and Nancy Edwards of Mansfield, Oh.; 10 grandchildren, Ervin, Jennifer, James, Brad, Manus, Paul, Gavin, Jacob, Maghan, and Peyton; 14 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jeremy, Zachary, Jazmine, Sydney, Gabe, Griffen, Brody, Nick, Justin, Madison, Hannah, Silas and Nora; 8 great-great-grandchildren, Hailey, Emma, Kenzie, Sophia, Rozlynn, Knox, Clayton, and Jep; and two special caregivers, Amy Edwards and her daughter Chloe Whitcher.
Funeral services were conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Sluss officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial followed in the Belcher Cemetery at Haysi. The family received friends after 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
