JAMES GODFREY BELCHER

HAYSI — James Godfrey Belcher age 82 of Bartlick Road, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Landmark of Elkhorn Nursing Home. He was the son of the late Park and Jessie Presley Belcher. He was of the Old Regular Baptist faith, an Army veteran and last employed as a coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Noma Lee Belcher; daughter, Kim Hill; son, James “Jimmy” Belcher and siblings, Joanne and husband Arthur Stiltner and Charles Belcher.

Survivors include his wife Janice Stuart; son, John David Belcher, Haysi, and daughter, Terri Dugenske, Winston Salem, NC; two step-daughters, Karen Harr and Sheila Hinton; a step-son, Dave Stuart; grandchildren, Jesse Dugenske, Cole Dugenske, Jewel Wren, Joey Wren, Jamie Hill, Johnathan Belcher and Missy Nowlin; numerous great-grandchildren and his siblings, Donald Belcher, Florence (Mack) Hayes, Linda Lou (Noah) Fuller, Patsy Sue (Freddie) Ramey, all of Haysi, and Jerry Belcher of Belleville, MI, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder Rick Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell-Senter Cemetery, Haysi. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
