CHRISTOPHER MARLON DEEL

VANSANT — Christopher Marlon Deel passed away January 31, 2022 surrounded by his family.  Chris was preceded in death by his mother Merle Deel of Abingdon, father-in-law Wid Deel and mother-in-law, Katy Deel of Tazewell.

Chris was an intelligent, hard-working man who always stood for what was right. He was an accomplished athlete, avid hunter, fisherman and sports fan. He was a supporter of Duke Blue Devils and Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved his dogs and loved having his daughters’ dogs come stay with him. Chris always greeted everyone with a smile and welcomed everyday with joy and happiness and inspired everyone he encountered to do the same. He was loved by everyone who knew him and loved them all the same. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Karen Renigh Deel; his daughters, Amy Renigh and husband Christopher Aaron Cook of Vansant and Heather Nicole and husband Larry David Hurley II of Washington, WV; a grandson, Trey Hurley of Washington, WV, who was his pride and joy; his father, Homer Deel of Abingdon; a brother, Bob Deel of Abingdon; a sister, Debbie Ramey of Clintwood and several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and friends.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2022 at Haysi Funeral Home with Larry Hurley officiating.  Burial followed in Russell Memorial Cemetery, Lebanon.  Pallbearers were appointed among family and close friends.  The family received friends after 10 a.m. on Friday prior to funeral service.
