JEFFERY LYNN MULLINS

October 06, 2021

Jeffery Lynn Mullins was born to Mary Pallas Mullins and the late Charles Prentis Mullins in Clintwood and passed from this life on September 30, 2021 in Lexington, Ky. He was a Christian of the Baptist faith. Jeffery was united in marriage to his loving wife, Dr. Carolyn Payne Mullins.

Jeffery leaves behind his daughter, Rachel Klinger and husband Eric and their children: Natalie, Bodie, Blake, Kellan, and Ariana Kate of Forest; his son, Jordan Mullins and wife Beth and their children: Emily and Jaina of Wise; his stepdaughter, Jerilyn Payne of Barbourville, Ky.; his stepson, Michael Payne of Lexington, Ky.; his sister, Patty Jo Newberry and husband Jeff of Clintwood; his brother, Davy Mullins and wife Nancy of Clintwood and a host of family and friends around the world.

Jeffery retired from the coal business after 25 years and started an ammunition company now, Allegiance Ammunition, where he manufactured the best bullet in the world, which he described as “like no other”. As he would say, he was one of “the boys from Clintwood” and “just a coal miner from Dickenson County”, but he is known around of the world as “the authority on frangible ammunition”.

He enjoyed spending time with loved ones, traveling, shooting guns, and four-wheeling. He always had a positive outlook. He was often heard saying “Life is good. It’s a great day to be alive. If it was any better, I couldn’t stand it”. He was always very accepting, understanding and tolerant of others. You had to work really hard to make him mad. He loved spirited conversations about religion and politics. He was loved and respected by many and will be missed by us all.
