ROY MULLINS

CLINTWOOD Roy Mullins, age 87, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and also a businessman and owner of Lee-Lynn Manufacturing, also delivered propane gas, and owner of M and M Transfer. He was a deacon of Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Mullins was also a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge #66, the first member of the Clintwood Lion’s Club, a previous member of the County Planning Commission and the Dickenson County Hospital Board.

He volunteered with the Dickenson County 4-H Program and worked for the Virginia Forestry Department, where he served as Smokey the Bear for Dickenson County Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Newton Mullins and Lura Mae Poe Mullins; his son, Roy Mack Mullins; his sisters, Martha Mullins Woodson, Frankie Mullins Selfe, and Condalee Mullins; his infant brother, Bobby Mullins, his twin brother, Coy Mullins, and another brother, Jackson Mullins; also special nephew, Scottie Selfe.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sue Mullins; his children, Robbie (Rene`e) Mullins of Bristol, Tenn., Barbara (Buck) Allen of Cedar Bluff and Michael Rae (Shirley) Wilson of Lebanon; like a son, Jackie Mullins of Haysi; siblings, Gaynell Mullins of Clintwood, Nina Bowers of Kingsport, Tenn., Joel(Linda) Mullins of Newborn, NC, Larry (Patricia) Mullins of Christiansburg, Danny Mullins of Knoxville, Tenn., and Dr. Benny (Kris) Mullins of Bristol; three grandchildren, Matthew Shane Allen, William Hunter Mullins, and William Lake Mullins; like a granddaughter, Miranda Fleming; like grandchildren, Nickey Allen Surratt, Sophie Fleming, Lylah Sue Fleming, Josie Fleming, and Henry Fleming; five great-grandchildren, Madison Caroline Allen, Matthew Colton Allen, Brodee Mack Mullins, Everleigh Cove Mullins, and Ridge James Mullins; one great-great-grandchild, Jackson Robert Ormsbee; special cousins, Virgil Mullins and Sonny Mullins and special friend, Roger Fleming.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Clintwood Masonic Lodge #66 ceremony and Lester Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Newton Mullins Cemetery, Foxtown Section, Clintwood. Pallbearers will be Clintwood Masonic Lodge #66 members. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons, Matthew Shane Allen, William Hunter Mullins, and William Lake Mullins, and the gentlemen of Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church. Special thanks to Dr. Ibrahim.
